Story: This is an aerial view of the land around Karuah, that is located between Newcastle and Taree.
The blue sections represent the waterways, rivers and creeks that intertwine and connect to one another and then eventually into the sea, via the Karuah River.
The green and ochre areas represent the surrounding landscape that connects to the river systems, while the circle patterns represent the tribal groups that live in this area. The changes in colours of the land represent the undulations of this vast landscape. These are their tribal lands, a place in which their ancestor’s spiritual connections goes back more than 60,000 years.
